This is the most difficult reality I have probably had to come to in my entire life. I have known my fiancee for years, she is the most trustworthy, honest, accountable and virtuous woman I have ever met in the course of my entire life. She’s the fast forward to the lacking woman, and the symbol of perfection, its a little wonder that I decided to court her and propose to her too. I respect her for who she is and I value her too, she is so special to me. Unlike many other relationships around us, we have never slept together, and from the start she always told me she was a virgin. I trusted her, she never gave me a reason to doubt her character once. I love her with all my heart. She is the sun that lights up my world.

I’m not saying that she doesn’t have her shortcomings, but she is very close to all she should be. Well known in church and even in the society as one who is unique and upright. She has been used severally as a role model to younger women. You can’t imagine the joy of just being her fiance, and the utter joy of the prospect of getting , married to her. The day I proposed was the happiest day of my life. If I hadn’t done anything right all my life, I know I did that one right, no mistake about it. We had been preparing gradually for the wedding, with the date already fixed. Just the few people that are aware are excited and can’t wait for the day. Her family has been totally supportive as well. I’m not the richest guy in town, but my work gives me a decent amount to fend for myself and also a wife.

I never knew anything could go wrong with this engagement of ours until recently. I had been very busy working very hard at my place of work towards getting enough funds for the wedding and the future. So when I had enough of work, I decided to go visit my love, and spend some quality time with her, since I had been unable to do for such a long while. When she heard of my arrival, she ran out to meet me. We both were excited to see each other. The first thing I saw was how much weight she had added, I even joked about it too, that her cheeks were out and blossoming. I couldn’t imagine anything was wrong. As we sat discussing in the sitting room, she went to get me a glass of wine. As she placed the glass of wine on the stool before me, she suddenly became dizzy! I had to rush to keep her on her feet, and then get her sitting on the chair by my side. I got some water to sprinkle on her face, and then used the newspapers I brought to fan her as she was unconscious. She later came back to life. I was glad, and as I was about to help her adjust her sitting posture, she told me to be careful. I wondered why, until I saw her partially protruded belly. Her gown had hidden it quite well. I knew it immediately, she was pregnant. Not for me, but for who?

“Are you pregnant?” I asked, with rage, a desperate need to understand, unbelief and hope at the same time. I then saw the tears form in her eyes before me, she tried to speak, but words failed her. She nodded her head in agreement. “For who?” I asked. She couldn’t respond, as she started sobbing uncontrollably. “Do you know what this would do to us? Our plans? Our life? All the sacrifices we’ve made? Our reputation? My reputation?” I asked. “Why didn’t you confide in me and tell me the moment this happened?” All I got was a teary, red eyed fiancée muttering some words I couldn’t make sense of. How many months old is the pregnancy? “3 months” she mumbled. My mouth was left open at that response.. She was practically quiet about this for 3 months?? I knew at that very moment when I walked out of the door that I needed to make a choice and fast too.. It was totally unbelievable, the contrast of her character and the current reality of the pregnancy… Sooner than later, I must make a choice…

Well, this is a true story. What’s the best choice you think this young man can make at this moment? If it was you in this situation, what choice would you make, what step would you take? What lessons did you learn from this? I would love to see your comments 🙂

  1. The first thing I would do if I was him is to delay in the wedding plans until he could get to the bottom of it. I wouldn’t be so quick to jump into marriage at that point. She is not the virgin mary (if you know what I mean) I’d have a lot of questions if it were me. First of all If she was such a honest person why did she keep this from him for 3 whole months. Also who is the father. Also what are her plans regarding the pregnancy. Is she going to keep the child. But I assume yes since she has allowed 3 months to pass. I’d like to believe the relationship is already in trouble before it got started. If he was saving himself for marriage why did she step out. The main thing is that he should not go into this marriage with his eyes closed. Make sure they are wide open before hand or he may be sorry he married her. Well that’s my two cents. LOL!

  2. First, for her to keep an issue of such magnitude away from him for so long is really really bad. Yh, she may av been scared to tell but she shld know dat something like dat can’t be hidden for long.
The guy should find d real truth behind d matter. If the reason behind d pregnancy is justifiable and he can cope with it, then he should go on else he should pull d plug on the relationship.

    • Well to me, honesty, trust and love has been attacked here
If she really is a honest woman, she should have told her Man whatever it is that happened to her. Now there are two scenarios here: 1. She cheated and 2. She was raped. Either way if she is honest as the storytelly claimed, she would have told her man. God damn it! For 3 months, what can you make out of that. I am very sure she is learned, if she certainly was raped, I tell you she wont wait to keep the pregnancy of a bastard child. Women know their ways, if a woman wants to get pregnant ahe will get pregnant and if she doesnt want to get pregnant, no matter what a man does, she wont get pregnant. In this 21st Century, pls give me a break oooo. She certainly wanted to push the whole thing on the guy, perhaps make love to him and claim he ia owner of a bastard child. But who knows anyway. If i were the guy, hmmmm,… let me wait for part 2 before I pass my final judgement

  6. This is devastating!!! What should he do? I empathize with the guy. I think he should find out the truth and then he will know what to do. Actions performed in anger are usually regretted.
